GBGC #18: Wish You Were Here (and when I say 'you' I mean Diego Forlán)

Up until a few years ago, I didn't know the first thing about soccer (futbol, Fußball, football). In fact, I wasn't such a sports fan at all. Then a rather clever director (Regisseur) cast me in an operetta (light opera, Singspiel) playing the role of a tomboy. I had to juggle a ball during my monologue (not juggle, like with three balls, but soccer juggling - keeping the ball in the air using every appendage except your hands).
This lead to me joining the theater soccer team, and even playing in the Bavarian "Theater Cup."
Now, I am caught up yet again in World Cup fever. It's really quite a special time in Europe - the sidewalks lined with plasma televisions, vuvuzelas resounding throughout the town, and people coming together for a common, if frivolous, cause. In this video, I show off a few of my best moves.

GBGC Quickie: I Got Life. Please, sir, can I have some more (stuff)?

There are a lot of things I don't have at the moment. Money, a boyfriend, a kid, an iPhone... but I got life. And a bad guitar, three chords (sometimes less, sometimes more), and the truth.

GBGC #16: Roam. Another word for channel-surfing.

The thing I love about the GBGC is that I never have to plan anything and it all just happens. This is why I have yet to grant requests - you can't force genius. Okay, maybe I'm getting too cocky. It's not genius, it just comes together.

When I picked "Roam" (or rather it picked me .... can't even remember what got me started on it), I looked to see what year the original song came out exactly. It was one of Billboard's Top 100 hits of 1990. It just so happens that a couple facebook friends of mine graduated in 1990, and they have their yearbook photos as profile pictures at the moment. Very funny, indeed. So, I set out to make this kind of a tribute to them.

Then I noticed I had the TV running in the background (a symptom of being sick these past few days - the television has been a trusted friend and nap-inducer). So, what the heck, I'll start channel surfing and filming some clips. I LOVE holiday programming... so much interesting stuff. I had used the banjo percussively more than anything, and the bongo-like sounds matched the wildlife clips; the late-night advertising coincided with the meaning of the song itself, and the Kiss concert... well... that was just serendipity at its finest.

If only life could be so easy. Hmmm... perhaps it is. Let it all come together. Right now. Over me.
I've got some ideas cooking up for my other 'serious' blog (see the link under 'About Me'). Check it out if you have some time! Thanks, and enjoy.....

GBGC Quickie: Sometimes, all I need is the air that I breathe. That's a start.

This is the first official "GBGC Quickie."  The point is to do no editing and little or no witty quips. Due to my self-inflicted sinus infection, I still cannot breathe properly, and therefore I was inspired to sing this little ditty by the Hollies. My computer also seems to be stuffed up, and I got this great choppy video effect that would've taken me hours to do had I tried. So, I confess, I did a little editing, and changed it to black and white and chalked it up to an "artistic choice". I hope the video taping functions normally for the next regular video, and I hope to be breathing freely by tomorrow (or next Tuesday at the very latest).
